HDPE Jacketed Copper MI Cables

TRM HDPE (high-density polyethylene) Jacketed Copper Mineral Insulated Heating Cables are engineered and manufactured to provide solutions for many residential, commercial and industrial applications, including:

  • Snow melting on ramps, parking lots, entrances, stairs, walkways, etc.
  • Roof and gutter de-icing
  • Frost heave prevention
  • Heat loss replacement
  • Interior floor warming (where higher watt densities are required)

TRM MI heating cables are constructed from high-grade materials to create a resulting product that is both robust and rugged, while remaining flexible and easy to install. Each MI heating cable is made from a seamless copper sheath, with either a single or dual copper/alloy heating conductor, encased in a highly compressed magnesium oxide powder and covered by a high-density polyethylene outer jacket. The cable is engineered in a series-resistant configuration, which provides a constant wattage output.

Every TRM MI heating cable is designed and manufactured by hand to suit your specific application at our CSA-approved facility in Markham, Ontario. Standard heating element designs are carried in stock and ready to go, so we can offer quick turnaround if your project has time constraints. TRM MI heating cables are built to last, but they are easy to test, fault-locate, and repair (should the need arise) to avoid any costly downtime in the future.

Self-Regulating (SR) Heating Cables

TRM Self-Regulating (SR) Heating Cables are safe, flexible and easy to install in a wide range of residential, commercial, and industrial applications where the heating cables need to be exposed to free air, rather than being embedded in a medium.

Self-regulating technology allows each of these heating cables to adjust its wattage (heat) output based on the temperature and environment to which the cable is exposed. In cold conditions, it generates more wattage (heat). In warmer conditions, the output is reduced and, thereby, saves energy.

This technology also helps make it one of the safest heating cables on the market, as well as the industry standard for most roof and pipe tracing applications. If it encounters a warm surface or is exposed to a warm ambient environment, the cable will automatically adjust its wattage output and avoid overheating in any one location. They can also be cut, field-terminated, and crossed over themselves.

These cables are ideal for:
  • Freeze protection pipe tracing
  • Process maintenance pipe and vessel tracing
  • Heat loss replacement
  • Roof and gutter de-icing
  • Frost heave prevention
  • In-pipe heat tracing of potable water lines
  • Hot water temperature maintenance

Our Self-Regulating Heating Cables are available in bulk coils with termination accessories. However, you can also choose from our standard catalogue of pre-assembled SR cable kits that include a factory-made end seal and pre-made termination point. These have a 6′ cold lead, which can be hard-wired at 208/240V or directly plugged into a 120V outlet.

Interior Floor Warming Systems

TRM Interior Floor Warming Systems are innovative, maintenance-free, and energy-efficient, especially when coupled with a programmable TRM brand interior floor-warming thermostat. The constant wattage systems provide a consistent heating output across the entire floor area, preventing cold spots and irregularities, while offering a truly luxurious experience.

Whether for your latest home renovation project or new construction, TRM Electric Interior Floor Warming systems are suitable for a wide range of interior heating applications, such as:
  • Heat Loss Prevention
  • Comfort Floor Warming
  • Supplementary Heating
  • Primary Heating (depending on site conditions)
We offer two different interior floor-heating product types to ensure the correct product is implemented in every situation:
  • Pre-constructed roll-out mats (in various standard and custom sizes)
  • Loose heating cable with an uncoupling (underlayment) membrane (in various standard sizes, and two membrane roll sizes in 54 sq. ft. or 161 sq. ft.)
While TRM’s uncoupling membrane is generally supplied as a system with our loose heating cables, it can also be installed over our heating mats or used as a stand-alone underlayment to provide:
  • Waterproofing – Naturally waterproof (as it is made from polypropylene) and provides added protection for indoor installations in areas that are prone to water damage
  • Uncoupling/Crack Isolation – Compensates for the longitudinal movement between the subfloor and the tile preventing breakage
  • Vapor Management – Allows air pockets to form between the subfloor and membrane; excess moisture from the substrate creates a vapour cycle that balances the vapour content of the substrate
  • Load Distribution – Patented design allows the floor load to be evenly distributed from the tile covering to the subfloor to prevent breakage

Either system can provide the same heating output of 12-15w/sq. ft. However, depending on the room dimensions, intent of the heating system, installation timeframes, and your budget, we may recommend one product that is more suitable than another. Our product experts can help you find the perfect interior floor warming system, no matter how big or small.

Polymeric Freeze Protection Heating Cables

TRM Polymeric Freeze Protection Heating Cables are easy to install, reliable, and low-maintenance, making them ideal for residential free air applications like pipe tracing or roof and gutter de-icing. TRM Pre-Terminated Polymeric Heating Cables come fully assembled from our factory in various heated lengths, with a 2’ cold lead and plug to transition from the heated area to your 120V receptacle.

These cables are engineered in a constant wattage/series-resistant design and include a built-in thermal disk that helps ensure the cable is on when cold and turns itself off when the pipe is warm enough not to freeze. This reduces energy costs and eliminates the need for external thermostat control. Further, the fixed wattage output means you will maintain consistent temperature across the entire pipe.
